Creative process

No doubt countless texts have been written to analyze the creative process among musicians. But, I'm a Rush fan, and a pragmatist--so something about this description of the album creation process by Neil Peart appeals to me.

Inspiration, passion, and muse are almost always snuffed out in formal software methods. They're probably the true tenuous thread that ties Agile to reality and makes it sing. I strive to build into development processes some freedom for true creativity. Regardless of what we need to do to get work done, those qualities are what programmers are in the business for. Without the freedom to practice them in the process, quality suffers and turnover is high.
